Local Artist Spotlight: Kelsey Reinhart

As part of our Local Artist Spotlight series, we are thrilled to feature local composer, Kelsey Reinhart, in our upcoming concert: Sacred Poetry.

Mrs. Reinhart, currently serving in her 5th year of teaching, is thrilled to start her first year as head director at Lake Highlands Junior High School. She graduated from Texas Tech University in December 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree of Music, including a double major in composition and music education. First published by TFS Music Publications in 2012 for her piece “Irish Blessing”, Mrs. Reinhart has since published various works with Hal Leonard Publications. Additionally, several of her pieces have been included in TCDA new music reading sessions. Mrs. Reinhart is tremendously grateful to have received the following prestigious awards: the 2017 Raymond W. Brock Student Composition Competition and the 2017 Ruth Boshkoff Composition Prize; where she was also commissioned to write a piece for the O.A.K.E. National Youth Choir.

As a product of Lake Highlands, Mrs. Reinhart was active in choir and band throughout her junior high and high school careers and is excited to be back home! When she is not teaching or composing, Mrs. Reinhart likes to spend time trying new restaurants and coffee shops with her husband or snuggling with her two cats, Porter and Luna.

CANCELLED: Reflections Concert

Out of an abundance of caution and concern for the health and well-being of our audience and singers, we are cancelling our Reflections concert which was originally scheduled for Sunday, March 22.

This was not an easy decision to make but given the current state of the coronavirus pandemic we felt this to be the most prudent course of action.

At this time, we hope that you will join us in praying for all those who have been affected by the virus and encourage everyone to do their part to help prevent further spread of the virus.

We thank you for your understanding,
The Singers of Inspirata

Bass! How Low Can You Go?

We’d like to introduce you to the newest member of Inspirata, Wendell Valdez!

Wendell joins us as a Bass and currently calls Dallas, TX, home after living in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma over the years. Born and raised in Metro Manila, Philippines, he grew up singing in choirs and taking piano lessons. He and his family emigrated to the United States when he was in his late teens. He graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a BBA in Computer Information Systems.

While attending ULM, Wendell studied private voice and sang with the Concert Choir and Chamber Singers. On occasion, he accompanied other voice students and was a pianist for a couple of choral ensembles on campus. After college, he sang with church choirs and performed in musicals that include Bella Vista Players’ production of ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ where he played the role of Motel the tailor, and Arkansas Public Theatre’s production of ‘The Music Man’ where he played the role of Olin Britt, the barbershop quartet’s bass.

In Dallas, Wendell sang with the Chancel Choir and Vox Nova at First United Methodist Church, was staff accompanist for FUMC children’s choirs, and performed with the Arts District Chorale for 5 seasons. Currently, he sings with the Chancel Choir at Lake Highlands United Methodist Church and the Mobile Music Ministry ensemble that performs at various nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the Dallas metroplex.
